Practice Leadership Advantage

Our Program aims to increase the business and clinical leadership skills of GPs, Practice Managers and Primary Care Nurses.

Why this Program?

With the increase in chronic disease prevalence, and an ageing population, plus the  healthcare workforce shortages there will be increased pressure on General Practice teams now and into the future. Clinician sustainability and business resilience are of paramount importance to deliver the care our community needs. This does not just happen…it requires leadership at a practice level to move from status quo.

Innovative and sustainable solutions are required to support local General Practices to move from surviving to thriving. To thrive means to adapt and flourish during times of change. A General Practice requires it’s ‘Adaptive Reserve’ to be nurtured by its leaders in order to make progress. The Practice Leadership Advantage (PLA) program coaches leaders to do this.

PLA aims to increase the business and clinical leadership skills of GPs, Practice Managers, Primary Care Nurses and Receptionists.

The Program

Program Intent

All our programs focus on leading improvement to achieve “Quadruple Aim” outcomes for each General Practice and the community it serves. Key elements of the “Quadruple Aim” are:

  • Improving the patient experience

  • Improving the quality of care / population health outcomes

  • Reducing the cost of care / improving General Practice financial sustainability

  • Improving the daily “ joy in work” experience / sustainability of the hardworking General Practice team.

Practice Leadership Advantage (PLA) Programs

  • Can be delivered either face to face in full day workshops, or via a series of 2.25 hour interactive Zoom meetings, or a combination of both.

  • Are supported by phone / zoom coaching for further professional development allowing practice owners / leaders confidential 1:1 time with either of the course program facilitators.

  • Encourage via the above mentioned coaching, more “how to” discussions to occur which may not be possible in the larger group sessions.

  • May attract 40 points for an Accredited Activity with the RACGP/ ACCRM 2020-2022 triennium if all components are completed by participants

  • Workbooks and predisposing readings are provided, making sure participants have copies of all course materials in turn triggering the participants reflections and helping people keep notes for the program and creating action lists

  • A range of leadership programs f rom Introduction to MasterClass are available. An individual prospectus for each program is available, with various delivery options described.

Practice team exhaused by the chaos of COVID-19?

There is a link to high performing primary care and practice sustainability.

  • Reduce stress levels by taking control of the workday. It’s about improving the system you work in and the team around you. Engaged leadership is required to make these changes and support your practice adaptive reserve.
